Interior Health is currently monitoring the situation, as the fire may cause power outages to communities in West Kelowna, Peachland, WFN land, and rural properties in the area. IH is asking people to establish a power loss emergency plan to protecting yourself and loved ones, as creating a plan in advance, considering potential relocation options, and reviewing resources prior to power loss is crucial.

Probe into crane collapse in Kelowna begins

A notice banning aircraft including drones in the area has also been issued. The BC Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC will be conducting their own investigations into the incident. The Regional District of Central Okanagan has activated its emergency operations centre and an evacuation order has been issued for a number of addresses in the area. The incident site, near the corner of St. Paul and Bernard, remains “unsafe and unstable,” according to a news release from the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre. Roads and sidewalks in the area are closed and residents and visitors are asked to stay out of the area.
