NEWARK  The Licking County Sheriff s Office is planning to present a case to the prosecutor s office after their former K-9 officer allegedly falsified records related to his K-9 s death earlier this year and his training. According to internal investigation documents obtained by The Newark Advocate through a purecords request, LCSO Sgt. Mark Brown was asked to investigate K-9 Apollo s death at the beginning of February. On Feb. 1, the Licking County Sheriff s Office announced K-9 Apollo died after escaping from his handler, Deputy Dirk Williamson, after an overnight tour of duty, and appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

Pair facing felony drug charges after arrest by CODE agents, deputies The Daily Jeffersonian Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for two Cambridge residents facing felony drug charges following an investigation by the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and Guernsey County Sheriff s Office last week. Brittany Gardner, 27, and Tyson Heskett, 22, were arrested by authorities on April 19 after a search warrant was executed at a Cambridge residence. The preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 6 in the Cambridge Municipal Court. Gardner faces single counts of permitting drug abuse and aggravated possession of drugs, fifth-degree felonies, while Heskett is charged with aggravated possession of drugs and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, also fifth-degree felonies.

WHIZ News Eight charged in Muskingum County Drug Investigation ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A Muskingum County Grand Jury indicted eight individuals after a long-term investigation that started in 2019, involving effort from several local, state and federal agencies.  Authorities say the investigation began in 2019 when members of the Muskingum County/Zanesville City Joint Drug Unit found out about a group of individuals from Columbus  who had moved to the Zanesville area with the intention to sell methamphetamine and fentanyl.  Approximately 30 pounds of methamphetamine and more than 2 pounds of fentanyl were seized during the investigation along with 13 firearms and $9,000 in cash. “When you look at these charges, and you look at the first felonies, the number of first felonies that are involved in this case, involving a pattern of corrupt activity, it basically shows the public that this case involves a large group of people dealing with a high volume amount of drugs,” Muskingum
