On January 7, 2021, The People s Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), published commentary on the January 6 riot at the U.S. States Capitol, stating that on that date, the world had witnessed a reality show of democracy. Depicting the riot as a natural result of America s failure to confront the COVID-19 crisis, the commentary said: The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to the values of democracy, freedom and human rights which have always been relished and bragged about in the West.
Hainan takes measures to protect intellectual property at the island s free trade port

The Hainan authorities have adopted a package of measures aimed at strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights in the island s free trade port, reported the China Daily. We will enhance the protection of intellectual property in some key sectors of Hainan s free trade port, in particular, in the fields of crop production, medicine, digital technology, space exploration, the newspaper quoted the deputy chairman of the Superior People s Court of the province Chen Wenping as saying. According to the official, the measures will also affect the field of innovation and AI (artificial intelligence), developments in biology, the service sector, and high technologies.
Hainan holds 30 qualification exams for the employment of foreign employees
HAIKOU, January 14. /TASS/. The share of highly qualified specialists among the population of the southern Chinese province of Hainan reached 20% in 2020. As Xinhua reported with reference to the region s press service, in 2007 this figure amounted to 14%.
The increase in the share of talented personnel was facilitated by the purposeful policy of the Hainan administration to invite highly qualified labor resources to the island. Its main provisions are contained in the Action Plan for Attracting One Million Talented People to Hainan (2018-2025) . As part of the implementation of the first stage of this plan, since 2018 more than 208,000 specialists have arrived in the province from both mainland China and abroad, as well as from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
