The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said John Ramos was holding a skateboard while standing on the road at North Normandy Boulevard and Merrimac Street just before 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a black 2015 Nissan Rogue traveling south on Normandy Boulevard. [TRENDING: Ad Witnesses said Ramos was leaning over something and was struck when he stood up, according to deputies. VCSO said bystanders performed CPR on Ramos before Deltona Fire Rescue units arrived and took over lifesaving efforts.

ATV Driver Dies From Injuries Weeks After Crash

Feb 23, 2021 2:54 PM Deltona, FL - The Volusia Sheriff s Office (VSO) says an ATV driver who was critically injured after colliding with a FedEx truck in Deltona earlier this month has died. Deputies say 35-year-old Joseph Sledge had been in the hospital since the crash occurred on February 5th. VSO s initial investigation into the crash found that both vehicles were traveling northbound on Courtland Boulevard, toward South Dorchester Drive as the ATV was traveling on the right shoulder of Courtland. As the FedEx driver tried to turn right onto S. Dorchester, Sledge attempted to stop the ATV before it could hit the truck. However, in doing so, the ATV and Sledge—who was not wearing a helmet—both flipped forward, causing them to strike the passenger side of the FedEx truck. The FedEx driver was uninjured, but Sledge was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Investigators added that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a con

ATV driver who collided with FedEx truck in Deltona dies Joseph Sledge, 35, died Saturday Published:  Tags:  DELTONA, Fla. – A 35-year-old man who had been hospitalized since early February after his ATV crashed into a FedEx truck died Saturday, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Joseph Sledge was critically injured Feb. 5 around 10 a.m. when deputies say Joseph Sledge was riding his ATV north on Courtland Boulevard toward South Dorchester Drive and the driver of a FedEx truck turned right onto South Dorchester Drive in the path of the ATV. [TRENDING: Ad Deputies said Sledge braked to avoid the collision but his ATV flipped, causing both the vehicle and the rider to hit the truck. Sledge sustained a severe head injury from the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
