The price for a self-paid PCR test at Ministry of Health and Welfare-associated hospitals has been brought down from NT$5,000 (US$179) to NT$3,500 for a standard test, with the result ready in 48 hours. For a rapid report, which can be collected the same day, the fee is down from NT$7,000 to NT$4,500, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC). The new price policy was instituted Sunday (June 27). Residents can refer to the websites of hospitals across the country for further information.

The new cases reported that day include 26 men and 34 women with the youngest being under 10 years old and the oldest being over 90. They began showing symptoms between June 19 and June 27. Among the community infections reported today, New Taipei City accounted for 33 cases, Taipei City reported 22 cases, and Taoyuan City reported 2 cases. Keelung City, Nantou County, and Changhua County all reported one case each.

Photo courtesy of the CECC Taipei, June 28 (CNA) Taiwan on Monday reported 60 new cases of COVID-19, all of which were domestic infections, and three deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC). The new cases brought the total in the country to 14,694, of which over 13,200 were domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day for the first time since the beginning of the outbreak in early 2020. The three deaths were two men and one women in their 70s to 90s, who passed away between June 25 and June 26, the CECC said.

People not allowed to pick up friends, relatives at airport: CECC

CNA file photo Taipei, June 28 (CNA) Taiwan s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has introduced a new regulation on airport pickups, mandating that incoming travelers are allowed to take only government-designated transportation or drive their own vehicles to their quarantine locations. People who violate the new rule by picking up their incoming friends or relatives at the airport will risk a fine of up to NT$150,000 (US$5,375), the CECC said Sunday. The regulation, which took immediate effect, was introduced as part of the government s efforts to prevent the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus, which has been gaining momentum around the world, CECC spokesman Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥) told CNA.
