According to an official familiar with the decision, the CECC will restart negotiations with Indonesia on allowing in migrant workers from the nation after a three-month hiatus. However, the exact timing of the measure will depend on pandemic situations in both countries. The source pointed out that any Indonesian migrant workers wishing to come to Taiwan will be asked to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction test issued by a local hospital approved by the Taiwanese government. Taipei, March 17 (CNA) Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr. will visit Taiwan from March 28 to April 1, in his first official foreign trip since his Jan. 21 inauguration, Taiwan s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) said Wednesday.
Whipps visit underscores how much he values the travel bubble that Taiwan and Palau will soon establish, and the visit will allow the two countries to advance their friendship further, Wu said.
Whipps will be the first foreign head of state Taiwan has received since the COVID-19 pandemic began in late 2019. During his trip, he will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and promote tourism in Palau, according to Wu.
