Average spot power price at IEX jumps 65% Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Average spot power price rose by 65% to ₹4.06 per unit in March compared to the year earlier month at the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) mainly due to increase in demand on account of rise in temperature and revival of economic activities. “The day-ahead market [DAM] traded 6,549 million units volume recording a significant 65% y-o-y growth,” the IEX said in a statement. “The average monthly price at ₹4.06 per unit during the month saw a 20% month-on-month increase,” the exchange added. According to IEX data, average spot power price in DAM was ₹2.46 per unit in March 2020 and ₹3.39 per unit in February 2021.

CERC works out average power purchase cost at Rs 3.85 per unit CERC works out average power purchase cost at Rs 3.85 per unit Photo: Pexels The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has worked out the average power purchase cost (APPC) at the national level at Rs 3.85 per unit for 2021-22 after addressing the stakeholders’ comments and based on the tariff orders issued by the state electricity regulatory commissions and joint electricity regulatory commissions for the year 2020-21. CERC had fixed APPC for 2017-18 at Rs 3.48 per unit, Rs 3.53 per unit for 2018-19 and Rs 3.60 per unit for 2019-20. APCC is for the power procurement by the distribution companies from generators under the long term contracts, bilateral contracts and from power exchanges.
