BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 3 (Xinhua) Member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), plus China, Japan and South Korea, have pledged to enhance financial cooperation to achieve resilient, inclusive and sustainable economic growth amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pledge was made during the 24th ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (AFMGM+3) which was held virtually on Monday in Brunei.
Co-chairing the meeting were Haji Ahmaddin, Brunei s deputy minister of finance and economy (Fiscal), Hajah Rokiah, managing director of the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), Hong Nam-Ki, deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance of South Korea, and Lee Ju-yeol, governor of the Bank of Korea.

The President of the World Bank Group, Mr. David Malpass, yesterday said the multilateral institution is focused on supporting the federal government’s bid to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Malpass said during a media briefing at the ongoing virtual World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) spring meetings in Washington DC that the World Bank would do so by supporting the government in its efforts to promote growth, job creation and shared prosperity.
According to him, as part of the efforts, the World Bank-supported Nigeria in ensuring fiscal and debt sustainability, including enhancing debt transparency and debt management at the federal and sub-national levels.
