Editor s Note: We know COVID-19 is continuing to impact your travel plans. As of April 2021, official guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention states that fully vaccinated people can travel at low risk, though safety precautions are still required. Should you need to travel, be sure to familiarize yourself with as well as local requirements/protocols/restrictions for both your destination and home city upon your return. Be safe out there.
The CDC has stated that fully vaccinated individuals can travel safely inside the US, even if it has stopped short of recommending that you travel. But maybe you re looking ahead and thinking about a fall trip. Iceland might be on your mind because it s one of the few countries that has already opened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists from the US.

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has released the first data on so-called breakthrough COVID-19 cases, meaning those who have become infected despite being fully vaccinated.
So far, there have been about 5,800 such cases, the CDC told CNN. Though that data lags behind the day-to-day newly updated totals of the number of American adults who are now fully vaccinated (which is 84 million adults in the nation), it reflects the efficacy rates of the double-dose Pfizer and Moderna vaccines of around 95 percent. To date, no unexpected patterns have been identified in case demographics or vaccine characteristics, the CDC told CNN.
