White House orders enhanced airport screenings for Ebola

US will track people coming in from countries with Ebola cases

AP Photo/John Bazemore Travelers coming in from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea will be subject to extra scrutiny because of Ebola concerns. According to the CDC, these travelers will be directed to six US airports.  There, airlines will collect and send their info to local health departments for tracking purposes.  The United States will begin tracking people who arrive from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea, two countries facing Ebola outbreaks.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday that the US government will institute public health measures for travelers coming in from those two countries out of an abundance of caution, as the threat of the outbreaks to the US remained low.

Biden administration said Tuesday states will get 14.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines next week  It marks a nearly 70% increase from the 8.6 million doses that were shipped the last week of January   Moderna is on track to deliver 100 million doses of vaccine to the US by the end of March it said in a House Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing Pfizer will deliver 120 million doses by the end of next month, its president said Both companies have hit production snags but say those are now solved, allowing them to speed and expand manufacturing Moderna says it will be able to produce 40 million doses by the end of April and Pfizer will ship 13 million a week over the coming weeks  

Biden administration announces plan to distribute 25 million free well-fitting cloth masks

The Biden Administration is rolling out a plan to deliver 25 million cloth masks to Americans through health centers and food banks, amid health warnings of the need for people to use them even as cases drop. The masks will be procured by the government and distributed free, with plans to deliver them to cites that could get them into the hands of lower-income Americans where the pandemic has been taking a toll. One of the most impactful things we can do is wear a mask and this is so important during this critical period where cases are declining but variants that spread more easily are increasing throughout our country, said Rochelle Walenksy, who heads the Centers for Disease Control, at a coronavirus briefing Wednesday.
