OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) â Over the past two weeks, the rolling average number of new daily cases of the coronavirus in Oklahoma has decreased by 37%, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Sunday reported 492 new cases, bringing the state s total since the pandemic began to over 432,000. The department said there were currently 11,930 active cases.Â
The health department has confirmed 4,701 deaths since the pandemic began.Â
More than 920,000 people in Oklahoma have received at least one vaccine dose, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That s about 23% of the population.
The health department is offering vaccinations to people in three of the stateâs four-phase plan, recently adding child care workers, students and employees at colleges, universities and vocational schools and critical business workers to those eligible.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) A sizable group of North Carolina college students will be eligible for a vaccine in April, under guidance from the state Department of Health and Human Services.
When North Carolina drafted its initial COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan in October 2020, college students were listed as a priority, just ahead of the general public. When schools reopened in August, the cohort proved it had the ability to rapidly contribute to community spread and fuel outbreaks through off-campus parties.

At least 105 new coronavirus deaths and 5,214 new cases were reported in Florida on Friday, March 12. Over the past week, there has been an average of 4,523 cases per day, a decrease of 24 percent from the average two weeks earlier.
Florida leads the nation with 690 confirmed cases of the B117 variant, but the state’s 75 percent decline in total of new cases since early January provides a glimmer of hope that the new variant will not trigger another surge.

People who have received the vaccine can step inside newly opened businesses with the reassurance that their chances of catching the virus are very low, especially if they follow public health guidelines and wear masks.
