Ranchi: The Jharkhand Rajya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvaya Samiti (JRKSSS) is planning to hold kisan mahapanchayats across the state ahead of the Bharat bandh called by Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) later this month to ensure the strike’s success. “Our organization will gear up for the nationwide protest by holding kisan mahapanchyats across the state. The Bharat bandh will be historic day in Jharkhand,” JRKSSS convenor Sufal Mahto said on Thursday.
JRKSSS has already held meetings to discuss ways to make the strike a success.
Besides the Bharat bandh on March 26, SKM has planned an array of activities this month to register their protest against the central farm laws. On March 19, SKM and its affiliated units will hold demonstrations at local markets “to save agriculture”. Farmers from across the country will gather at the Delhi borders to mark the martyrdom day of Shahid Bhagat Singh on March 23. On March 28, the farmers would burn copies of the new farm laws.

Despite the enormous militancy and courage shown by over 3,000 striking workers attached to two Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) plants near Bengaluru, the capital of the southern Indian state of Karnataka, the more than three-month-long strike against speed-ups and witch-hunts against militant workers by management has ended in defeat. The company successfully engineered a split in the leadership of the TKM Employees Union (TKMEU) to conclude the sell-out earlier this month.

Rise in COVID-19 infections and an increase in fuel prices have dampened business sentiment in the election season
Cab operators and travel agents normally expect to make a profit during the election season. But this time around, they are being cautiously optimistic, citing the rising fuel prices.
C. Manivelan, whose vehicles were mobilised for a DMK rally in Tiruchi on Sunday, said the COVID-19 pandemic had brought business to a halt, and the upcoming election, set to take place in the backdrop of a spike in cases, could make matters worse. “Most party workers prefer their own vehicles,” he said.

Public protests by local workers and sympathisers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] against candidate selection in the Ponnani and Kuttiyadi Assembly constituencies in north Malabar on Monday are likely to leave the party leadership in an unenviable position.
