No fresh stock of vaccine for 5th day, inoculation drive hit | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: The district didn’t receive any fresh stock of Covid-19 vaccines for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, hitting the inoculation drive. For the third day in a row, no vaccination camps were conducted for the public in the district. However, there are a few doses of vaccines left to inoculate the pregnant women, who could approach the government hospitals or village health nurses for the jab. Meanwhile, around 50 to 60 representatives of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TDPK), street vendors’ association and differently-abled welfare associations protested the “extremely low” vaccine allotment for Mettupalayam municipality on Tuesday morning.

Farmers protest: Central trade unions to hold demonstrations on June 26

Ten central trade unions on Tuesday asked their members to hold demonstrations on June 26 to support the farmers’ agitation against the new farm laws. Farmers under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of over 40 farmer unions, are protesting since November 26, 2020, against the three farm laws. The 10 central trade unions have been supporting the farmers’ agitation from the beginning. Advertisement On June 26, farmer unions will hold sit-ins at Raj Bhavans and in front of offices of district collectors across the country to mark the completion of seven months of the agitation. The trade unions also demanded a legal guarantee for the minimum support price for farm produce.
