West Sacramento Council Seat Debate Continues — The Sacramento Observer

The West Sacramento City Council is at an impasse as to how to fill a vacancy for a fifth member and looks to be headed toward a special election. What that special election will look like, whether it will be a regular in-person election in November or a strictly mail-in process in August, is expected to be decided at the Council’s January 20 or February 3 meetings. As previously reported by the Sacramento OBSERVER, the vacancy was created after last November 3’s election, when City Councilmember Martha Guerrero was successful in her bid to become mayor.  Councilmembers Quirina Orozco and Chris Ledesma have supported having data researcher Dr. Dawnte Early fill the open spot, as she was the next highest vote getter in the recent election. SCVNews com | California Launches Mothers PSA Urging Families to Stay Home this Holiday Season

SACRAMENTO – With COVID-19 cases rising at an alarming pace and ICU beds at or nearing capacity statewide, the California Department of Public Health on Thursday launched the “Mothers” advertising campaign featuring real California moms urging people to stay home this holiday season. The mothers in this campaign advocate that the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to stay at home, wear a mask, wash your hands, and physically distance. This Christmas, staying apart will keep us together. The campaign’s goal is to encourage Californians to pause plans to gather with extended family and friends for the holidays, and shine a light on the catastrophic effect family gatherings can have as COVID-19 continues to spread. Beloved family traditions can continue with video-call present opening or online cookie baking.
