(KFVS) - Twelve McCracken County High School students have been chosen for the Governor’s Scholars Program. McCracken County High School juniors Addison Allen, Avery Collins, Carlie England, Hillary Hollowell, Ava Kelly, Erissa Morin, Katherine Oliver, Laurel Swanz, Katelyn Walker, Wyleigh Watson, Deacon Jones and Ethan Roberts have been selected as scholars.

(KFVS) - Jake Miller, a Ballard Memorial High School (BMHS) junior was selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program. Miller is a part of a legacy, his father, aunt, and three cousins have also participated in the program. One thousand students, out of 2,000 were selected. The program will be five weeks long. students will be divided between the Bellarmine University in Louisville, Centre College in Danville, and Eastern Kentucky in Morehead.

Two Todd County Central High School students have been chosen for the Governor’s Scholars Program. Juniors Josh Gillespie and Taylor Byrd were among 1,020 high school juniors selected from across the state. The residential program is held over five weeks on the campuses of Centre College in Danville, Morehead State University in Morehead, and Bellarmine University in Louisville. While on campus for the program, students take in-depth exploratory and inquiry classes, conduct service projects, and participate in clubs, discussions, and lecture sessions. Students chosen for the program must complete an extensive application which includes essays, descriptions of their service, activities, and awards, teacher and community recommendations, and academic information including a standardized test score like the ACT.
