St. College CVIM Vaccines

As of this morning, i’m told that at least 292 SCASD employees have self reported that they have gotten their first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
State College School District is putting it’s best foot forward towards keeping it’s schools safe and in person.
While not mandatory, they encourage all of their staff eligible under group one a to get their shot.
Chris Rosenblum, the district’s director of communications, is thrilled to see that almost twenty percent of the district’s staff have taken the initiative to get vaccinated.

Centre Volunteers in Medicine hosted one of Centre County’s first COVID-19 mass vaccination clinics Saturday, vaccinating about 1,200 people at Mount Nittany Middle School.
Pamela Moeng was one of them. Moeng works at Park Forest Middle School and said she tried to sign up for vaccination appointments with multiple providers before she was finally scheduled by CVIM.
She joked when it was time for the shot. “I wish it was a shot of tequila, because I’ve watched the news and seen the size of the needle,” she said. “But I’m okay.”
Moeng said getting vaccinated was a great relief and gave her hope that she may see her family in person soon.

Centre Volunteers In Medicine (CVIM) gave out almost twelve-hundred COVID vaccines today.As efforts to ramp up distribution continue.
At Mount Nittany Middle School, a steady stream of people came in today to get a COVID vaccine. T he CVIM doled out vaccinations throughout the course of the day.
Doctor Raymond Nungesser, the CVIM’s Medical Director, said the community stepped up to make this clinic run efficiently.
“I think there’s a lot of energy here and there’s a lot of volunteers here that I’ve never met before, and it’s quite exciting to see the community come out and support this effort,”Dr. Nungesser said.

Centre Volunteers in Medicine will host Centre County’s first COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic on Saturday. The organization plans to vaccinate 1,200 people during the event at Mount Nittany Middle School.
All appointments have been filled for CVIM’s Super Saturday COVID vaccine clinic, which will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CVIM Director of Development Monica Wright said over 6,000 people tried to register for the event, but only 1,200 vaccines are available.
“It is absolutely by appointment only I can’t stress that enough. In addition to the 1,200 group of people coming in throughout the day, we can’t have additional people coming in, Wright said.
BELLEFONTE For several Centre County entities, help is on the way.
At Tuesday’s Centre County commissioners’ meeting, it was announced that several groups and non-profits are part of a community development block grant. Chair Michael Pipe said that the distribution of funds was a “rather important and large item.”
“The money is now available, it can be dispersed out,” Pipe said.
The allocation of funds was approved by the commissioners on Aug. 11, 2020.
The recipients of the funds are: Seven Mountains EMS Council ($40,875), Centre Volunteers in Medicine ($10,000), Centre Safe ($45,377), Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County ($43,300) and Bellefonte Borough ($59,974).
