ALPENA Public health officials on Wednesday reported nine newly infected or probably infected Northeast Michiganders, including six Alpena County residents, two Presque Isle County residents, and one Montmorency County resident.
As of Feb. 18, local public health agencies have reported confirmed and suspected infections as one number.
Based on that data, 2,923 Northeast Michiganders have been confirmed or suspected infected since the pandemic hit Michigan in mid-March. Of those, 103 have died.
State data showed that, as of Tuesday, 17,590 doses of coronavirus vaccine had been administered in Northeast Michigan.

COs Zach Painter and Ethen Mapes conducted an after-dark patrol on Lake Gogebic. The COs observed several tip-ups with no one around them and multiple flags up on the lighted tip-ups. The COs waited nearby to see if anyone would check the tip-ups. After a half hour of waiting with no activity at the tip-ups, the COs followed off-road vehicle (ORV) tracks to a nearby residence and contacted two subjects. The subjects admitted that the tip-ups belonged to them. A citation was issued for fishing with lines not in immediate control.
CO Brian Lasanen was patrolling Houghton County at approximately 8:15 p.m. when a radio call went out regarding a subject who had slipped off a breakwall and into Lake Superior. CO Lasanen and a Houghton County deputy responded to the location and met a local first responder who had just arrived. 2:32 p.m.: The family of a previous Avery Township resident called to report that the neighbor has been trespassing on the property. Caller was advised to post no trespassing signs and cameras.
3:57 p.m.: Multiple scams came into the department today; every scam is different. This is just to reinforce that you should never give your information to anyone on the phone. Montmorency County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch receives several new scams being reported weekly.

10:50 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residential burglar alarm in Vienna Township, everything was found to be as it should be, officer cleared without incident.

ALPENA Two more Northeast Michigan residents have tested positive for COVID-19, local public health officials said on Friday.
District Health Department No. 4 officials also said the second dose COVID-19 vaccine clinic will proceed Saturday as scheduled.
Health Department Spokeswoman Cathy Goike said despite the storms this week, the Health Department received its vaccine allocation and will continue as planned.
