Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 3) A lawmaker has filed a resolution calling for an inquiry into the inspection centers tasked to evaluate the roadworthiness of private vehicles.
Senator Grace Poe filed Senate Resolution No. 634, which seeks to look into issues surrounding Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers or PMVICs. Motorists have been required by the Land Transportation Office to make their vehicles undergo regular tests with accredited PMVICs as part of their registration renewal process.
Inspection fees range from ₱600 to ₱1,800, with advocacy groups flagging the hefty amounts. Meanwhile, reinspection fees for vehicles that failed their tests run from ₱300 to ₱900.
