House Fire Near Howard City Leaves One Dead | Newsradio WOOD 1300 and 106 9 FM

Mar 16, 2021 REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. - After a Monday house fire in Montcalm County, one person was found dead. Authorities were called Monday evening for a reported house fire northwest of Howard City, with a body being found inside the house after the fire was put out. The Montcalm County Sheriff s Office did not release the identity of the victim, but said that a 75-year-old man lived at the house. The cause of the fire and death remain under investigation.

The fire was reported at around 6:24 p.m. at 10506 North West County Line Road in Reynolds Township. The Howard City Fire Department responded to the home and battled the fire. A body was later found inside the burned home. Authorities say a 75-year-old man lived in the home, which was surrounded by woods. The house sustained extensive damage and is a total loss.

Montcalm Co Parades for Funeral of Retired Police Chief

Patino worked for the county sheriff’s office for 36 years, which included time spent as a detective lieutenant. He went on to work for the Edmore Police Department and became the Chief of Police in Stanton before retiring in September. The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office says he died Friday at the age of 67 “after a short battle with illness.” The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook saying, “Joe’s investigative talents were second to none and touched the lives of many. Joe was known for his knowledge of criminal investigations, his care for victims, and even his fair treatment of suspects. Under Joe’s direction, the detective bureau was very successful and was respected within the entire region assisting many outside agencies. Joe served as an investigator

Belding Woman Dies in Montcalm Co Crash

9 & 10 News December 30, 2020 The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly two car crash. It happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning on Greenville Road near River Run Trail south of Greenville. Deputies say a man was driving and didn’t follow the curve of Greenville Road. They say he crashed with a woman driving in the other direction. The woman died at the scene. Deputies say the road was covered in snow which may have been a factor in the crash.
