Programmes are available at master’s level and beyond; areas include economics, finance, human resources and actuarial science. For undergraduate students, the bachelor of commerce is a good foundation for a career or further study. Within the bachelor’s degree, students can choose between six majors based on their interests. These include accounting, actuarial studies, economics, finance, management and marketing. Students can also choose to do a double major and combine any of these two specialisations.  Notable alumni of the University of Melbourne include former prime minister of Australia Julia Gillard, author and academic Germaine Greer, comedian Ronny Chieng and chef, restaurateur and food writer Stephanie Alexander. Eight Nobel laureates have graduated from the institution.
