Only about one-third of New Jersey schools are fully in-person as of this week, as Gov. Phil Murphy pushes all of the state’s schools to reopen and sharply criticized the 15 districts that have remained totally virtual.
As of May 4, 450 school districts were hybrid, 15 were remote and 298 were fully in-person the sixth week in a row the number of in-person districts increased. Forty-eight districts have different educational formats for different schools.

The budget, which may be amended prior to its final adoption, was introduced on April 14.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 12 and the governing body may adopt the budget that evening.
The $28.66 million budget will be supported by the collection of $19.7 million in taxes from Eatontown’s residential and commercial property owners.
Other revenue in the 2021 budget includes the receipt of $1.46 million in state aid and the appropriation of $4.5 million from the borough’s surplus fund (savings).

The number of New Jersey schools offering virtual-only instruction has dropped 71% since the start of the school year, as districts continue to grapple with how to educate students during the coronavirus pandemic.
As of April 17, 526 school districts were hybrid, 69 were remote and 186 were fully in-person the fourth week in a row the number of in-person districts increased. Thirty districts have different educational formats for different schools.
