Richard Ziegler, 70, admitted to sexually touching himself in front of two girls multiple times between 1981 and 1987. He pleaded guilty in the virtual court hearing in Morris County Superior Court to two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
Prosecutors will ask a judge next month to sentence Ziegler to 10 years in state prison, five years for each victim. Ziegler s attorney will argue for a total of five years, with each term running concurrently.
A Morris County man was in the midst of an alcohol addiction when he attacked the manager of Fattys restaurant in Morristown in December after an altercation involving his refusal to wear a face mask, his attorney said Friday.
Jose Canales, 21, of Morristown, was dealing with a serious alcohol issue that culminated in the events that transpired at the Morris Street eatery, Terry Webb, his defense attorney, said during the virtual Morris County Superior Court hearing. Unfortunately because of COVID, his underlying alcohol issue wasn t being addressed, Webb said, adding that the incident has now allowed him to see the devastating effects alcohol has had on the deterioration of his life.

MORRISTOWN The operators of a Dehart Street bar are the latest to sue the township for inconsistencies in decisions and delays in getting public records.
Tashmoo Bar and Restaurant operators DeHart Associates and WCGP said Morristown s formula to determine its maximum occupancy load for their bar expansion is unreasonable, states the lawsuit filed in Morris County Superior Court. The bar also claims the town s clerk failed to honor requests for certificates of occupancy and other documents. Defendants’ arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable decision-making is worse than garden-variety incompetence, reads the lawsuit filed by the operators.
DeHart Associates has owned and operated Tashmoo for the last 15 years and in 2016, began the process to expand into the adjacent lot at 10 DeHart Street. Bar owner Billy Walsh is not named as a plaintiff in the lawsuit.
