Man who had sexual assault charges controversially dropped faces new sex assault charges

The son of a former county official, who in 2017 was charged with sexual assault in a case that sparked a feud between State Police and local prosecutors, now faces sexual assault charges stemming from an April incident, officials said.
Ian Schweizer, 38, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of aggravated assault stemming from an incident inside a Sandyston home on April 21, a spokeswoman for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said. He was previously charged with simple assault.
A scheduled detention hearing for the simple assault charge on Tuesday was postponed until Thursday so all charges could be heard at the same time, Schweizer’s lawyer said during a Zoom call.

Ian Schweizer, 38, faces simple assault charges after police were called to a Sandyston home on April 21 for a report of a sexual assault, court records show.
Schweizer was previously accused of attacking a woman outside a bar and was charged, but the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office decided there was not enough evidence, kicking off a years long battle with corruption allegations levied by both agencies.
