MORGAN CO., Ala. (WAFF) - An off-duty deputy helped save a life over the weekend in Morgan County.
Corporal Austin Wiggington was out on the river when someone jumped off the I-65 bridge. Wiggington rescued the person and pulled them out of the water.
Our Corporal Wiggington was off duty and out on the river when an individual jumped from I-65 Bridge. Cpl Wiggington reached individual & pulled him from water. Rescue Squad is on scene & transporting he individual to ambulance/hospital. FORT MORGAN, Colo. â The chief of police for the town of Log Lane Village in Morgan County was arrested on assault and domestic violence charges, according to Fort Morgan police.
Joshua Katz, 33, was arrested without incident Saturday evening by officers following an incident that occurred in Log Lane Village earlier in the day, Fort Morgan police said in a Facebook post.
Katz is facing the following charges: second-degree assault, third-degree assault, false imprisonment, harassment, and domestic violence.
Katz is the chief of police for the Log Lane Village Police Department, a force of only three officers, including Katz. His current status with the department is unknown.

Law enforcement across all of North Alabama took some time on Friday to honor all the officers who ve fallen in the line of duty. Saturday, May 15th is National Police Memorial Day. Across the country, people will recognize officers who ve died in the line of duty.
It s the first time the Lauderdale County Sheriff s Office held a service at their memorial for fallen officers. The sheriff, Rick Singleton, told WAAY 31 it s even more important now because of how difficult this past year has been.
