Man Charged With Felony Offenses After Officers Reportedly Find Cocaine, Meth & Pot During Search

41-year-old Shawn Dupree Corpening was arrested Friday (April 30) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for the sale of controlled substance. He’s also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, resisting a public officer and sexual battery.

MORGANTON, N.C. (AP) Police in North Carolina are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a homeless man s dog in front of him.
The Morganton Department of Public Safety posted a photo of the suspect and his vehicle on the department s Facebook page.
The department says the gunman walked up to the homeless man near a store on Sunday afternoon and fatally shot the dog, named “DJ.

Two sheriff’s deputies were among five people who died Wednesday in a grisly ambush and standoff involving a barricaded shooting suspect at a home in North Carolina, officials said.
The suspected shooter allegedly killed his mother and stepfather inside the home and then opened fire on deputies who responded to a welfare check at the residence in Boone, news station WCNC reported.
The 13-hour ordeal finally ended after the shooter died in an apparent suicide, an official with the Morganton Department of Public Safety told The News Herald.
