Last week, after finishing inoculations of some front-line hospital staff, Jupiter Medical Center was left with 40 doses of precious covid vaccine. So, officials offered shots to the South Florida hospital’s board of directors and their spouses over age 65.
But that decision sparked outrage among workers left unvaccinated, including those at one of the hospital s urgent care clinics, or who believe the hospital was currying favor with wealthy insiders before getting all its staffers protected, according to a hospital employee who spoke on the condition of not being named.
The move also prompted dozens of calls from donors looking to get vaccinated.
Meanwhile, seniors continue to struggle for appointments

While thousands of seniors in Florida are bleary eyed and angry after spending weeks trying unsuccessfully to get an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine, the former chairman and CEO of Time Warner told a national television audience on Friday that it was a breeze.
Richard Parsons, who is also a former chairman of Citigroup, said he left his home of New York to travel to Florida specifically because the Sunshine State made it so easy.
“It’s orderly and sensible,” the 72-year-old Parsons said while appearing on Squawk Box on CNBC. “I don’t know how Florida got the march on everyone else. But, you go online. You make an appointment. You get an appointment.”

The vaccines the local institution received were only for residents and staff.
“To go under that rubric when you’re not a resident and not a staff member, that’s definitely going outside what the guidance is and what the program is for,” DeSantis told the press in Vero Beach on Jan. 7.
“If you are not a long-term care resident, but you’re 65 and up, there are other options for you,” he said. “We want you to get vaccinated.”
Ryna Greenbaum, 89, a donor of the nursing system said she received a call from Keith Myers, chief executive of MorseLife Health System around New Years’ day, “He asked me if I wanted to have a vaccine.”
