According to a news release, this new group of fatalities included a man in his 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, whose death is linked to an ongoing outbreak at the McCreary-Alonsa Health Centre. This marks the fifth death associated with the health facility, which is located approximately 140 kilometres northeast of Brandon and first began reporting fatalities on Jan. 11. This new list of fatalities raises Manitoba’s COVID death toll to 783, which represents an 138 per cent increase from the 328 fatalities that were listed on Dec. 1, 2020.
