UFC 261 results: Usman sleeps Masvidal, Namajunas reclaims belt, and Shevchenko dominates

Though UFC 261 featured three championship fights, that fact was largely overshadowed in the lead-up by the idea that it also marked the promotion’s first event since the pandemic struck that a sold-out venue full of fans would be allowed in attendance. With the UFC 261 results now in the books, the fighters stole the limelight back.
UFC 261 results: Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal
Kamaru Usman wanted nothing but to finish Jorge Masvidal in their headlining rematch. He did just that.
Usman opened with a crisp jab, stinging Masvidal throughout the first half of the first frame before Masvidal finally landed. In shades of his fight with Ben Askren, Masvidal launched a flying knee, but Usman caught him and tossed him onto the canvas.
Wednesday night (US time) was the second installment of the weekly ONE on TNT series. In the main event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Christian Lee blew away Timofey Nastyukhin in under 90 seconds to defend his lightweight title for the second time in quick succession.
After an unsuccessful takedown attempt from the champion, Nastyukhin tried to press forward and land the type of devastating strikes that knocked out both Eduard Folayang and Eddie Alvarez. He only succeeded in walking into a left hook which separated him from his senses and left him on all fours.
From there, Lee was savage in his determination to finish the fight. He landed at least ten unanswered punches to the face of Nastyukhin, as the Russian attempted to get back to his feet and continue fighting.
Jorge Masvidal believes that YouTuber Jake Paul is going to defeat former MMA champ Ben Askren fairly easily. He even helped Paul prepare for the bout.

The first round of the main event started with an ugly kick from Holland that delivered flush right into Vettori’s crotch area that would make any man cringe in perceptible pain. After that illegal foray, the first round was a mix between exchanges on the feet between the two middleweight contenders, along with clinch work that for the most part was dominated by the no. 6 ranked Vettori. Toward the end of the first, Vettori secured a takedown and maintained ground control until a beautiful transition from Holland to take the fight back to the feet.
