A tense standoff ended without incident in Sandy Bay First Nation.
Manitoba First Nations Police Service Officers (MFNPS) received a call to a local residence on Sandy Bay First Nation, in relation to a man in possession of a firearm over the weekend.

The male suspect had locked all the doors and refused to allow the female occupant to leave. Police arrived on the scene and noticed a female leaving the residence. She stated that the male had assaulted her and that she believed he had a firearm in the residence. MFNPS Sandy Bay Detachment Officers, along with the Officers from the Crime reduction Team (CRT), and Officers from the Amaranth RCMP, surrounded the home as the male was refusing to exit the residence and was observed holding a firearm.

Quick action by officers led to a bust of drugs and weapons.
Manitoba First Nations Police Service Officers were alerted by Long Plain First Nation Security of a vehicle that went through the COVID-19 security checkpoint on January 5, 2020, with a non-community Member who was restricted from entering the First Nation which led to a traffic stop when the officers located the orange Dodge journey.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a Provincial Offences Act ticket and all occupants exited the vehicle. Manitoba First Nations Police Service Officers on general patrol, along with the assistance of Crime Reduction Team (C.R.T.) Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Ridge Road South, in the community of Sandy Bay First Nation on December 16, 2020.
An adult female and two adult males were located inside the residence and were immediately taken into custody. Upon searching the subjects and the residence, officers located and seized over $2,500.00 in Canadian currency, 24 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, three pellet (BB) guns, a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, several different types of ammunition, three scales, hundreds of unused baggies, an altered cattle prod (conducted energy weapon), two cans of bear mace, and several other items related to drug trafficking.
