Police Searching for Suspects After Monday Shooting
Yakima Police are investigating the cities latest shooting reported on Monday afternoon. Officers say an 18-year-old man is now being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police say he was shot while riding in a car at about 5:15 p.m. Monday in the 5600 block of West Chestnut Avenue. Authorities are still searching for a suspect vehicle described as a silver car and they re not saying if the shooting was gang related. Other people were also in the car when the victim was shot including a 14-year-old girl, another 18-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman in the car as well. They were not injured.
Woman Dies After Being Hit Monday at 40th and Tieton
Yakima Police say a 27-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle on Monday has died. Authorities say she was crossing Tieton Drive in the crosswalk at North 40th Avenue when she was struck. Her name has not been released. Police say she died at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night.
The crash was reported Monday afternoon when officers were called to the intersection of 40th Avenue and Tieton Drive. Police say she was walking in the crosswalk when the driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound on Tieton hit her at a slow speed. Capt. Jay Seely says the driver was making a right turn onto 40th Avenue when the woman was struck. The driver apparently didn t see the woman crossing the street.
