The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday reported 263 domestic cases of COVID-19, three imported cases and 28 deaths.
Of the new local cases, 124 are male and 139 are female, with their ages ranging from under five to older than 90, the center said.
The onset of their symptoms was between May 22 and Wednesday, it said.
New Taipei City had the most local infections, with 112 cases, followed by 58 in Taipei and 43 in Miaoli County, it said.
Taoyuan had 14 cases, Keelung had 12, Changhua County had 10 and Hualien County had seven, it said.

The Taoyuan City Government has helped pay the medical expenses of a resident who developed blood clotting after he received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, the first such case in Taiwan, Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦) said on Saturday.
The man surnamed Yu (余), who is in his 30s, received the first shot of the vaccine on May 12, and on May 22 sought medical assistance at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, reporting a persistent headache and abdominal pain.

The government should test all migrant workers for COVID-19 using rapid screening tests and take blood samples monthly to check whether they have COVID-19 antibodies, National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital superintendent Huang Li-min (黃立民) said yesterday.
Huang’s comment came after three infection clusters involving mostly migrant workers were last week found at manufacturers in Hsinchu City and Miaoli County, where many of Taiwan’s largest technology companies have facilities.
The government must take full advantage of virus detection technology and available disease prevention staff to “get a handle on” the movements and health conditions of migrant workers, Huang said.
