York Jewish Community Center offers traditional food festival by drive-thru this year
A festival celebrating pastrami sandwiches, matzah ball soup and potato knish is just around the corner.
The York Jewish Community Center s 30th annual Jewish Food Festival is happening from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 25 and those interested in placing an order for a home-cooked Jewish meal can do so until Wednesday, April 21.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, all orders will be picked up drive-thru style. In previous years, families gathered inside the community center to eat together, according to Jonah Geller, chief executive officer of the York JCC.

Those looking for an outdoor space with a city vibe for their next event soon will have a new venue to consider.
The Bond is expanding its York City space to feature a new outdoor area for everything from weddings to private parties, according to Abby LaBar, the director of venue management for The JDK Group, which oversees operations at The Bond. Coming across outdoor venue spaces in downtown York hasn t been the easiest thing, LaBar said. Quite honestly, we haven t been able to redirect clients anywhere in the York City area for outdoor spaces.
State prison for Yorker who shot York City woman in leg

A York City man has been sentenced to state prison for shooting a woman in the legs as she was walking home.
Jervin Perez, now 21, pleaded guilty in York County Court on Monday to the felonies of aggravated assault and being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm.
He was sentenced to seven to 17 years in state prison and given credit for the 476 days he s already spent locked up on the case, according to court records.
In exchange for his guilty pleas, a charge of attempted first-degree murder was dropped, court records state.
