Over the past year, most of us have upped our walking game. Whether it’s a quick half-hour trip to a dog park or a two-hour trek along the Humber or Don Rivers, getting some fresh air and exercise has been essential in keeping us grounded – and healthy. Scientists say it’s more important than ever to get outside – properly distanced, of course. So lace up those walking shoes, fill up that water bottle, put on that hat and sunblock and enjoy the city’s parks and recreation.
Kids are taught many things in school - Math, English, Science, Geography. But what about the little things? Students at New York Mills Public Schools are being taught the real skills needed in life.
Ninth grade students in New York Mills are now required to go through a 6-week Life Skills course. They ll learn, at their own pace, things like how to sew on a button, tie a tie and wrap a present. Students must also set a table, sort laundry, iron a shirt, write a thank you card and fill out a job application.
In addition to life skills, students are taking Career and Personal Finance classes. All three mini-courses are now required for New York Mills ninth graders.

For a city that seems to love putting new condos everywhere, this new proposal has rubbed plenty of Toronto residents the wrong way.
The proposed application calls for two new buildings measured at 21 and 35 storeys, with the two towers connected by a six-storey podium. Many residents and Toronto officials consider the proposed development completely out of character and a potential eyesore for the area. The tallest building in the whole area is 11 storeys and all of a sudden this one is way out of character where they want up to 35 storeys, Councillor Mike Colle told blogTO.
