The George Washington Inn and Conference Center will be turned into a 125-unit rental apartment building

The George Washington Inn and Conference Center. (WYDaily /Courtesy Cushman & Wakefield Thalhimer) An application by Schottenstein Realty Company for the purpose of redeveloping an existing motel (the George Washington Inn and Conference Center) into a 125-unit rental apartment building has been approved by the York County Planning Commission. According to a York County Planning Commission Staff Report, Schottenstein has a contract to purchase the property and intends to redevelop it for non-transient residential occupancy. Currently the property is a 250-room motel and conference center. The property is designated Economic Opportunity in the Comprehensive Plan, intended to guide a mix of office, light industrial, commercial, and tourist related uses to certain areas of the county that have or are planned to have the access and infrastructure necessary to support both capital and labor intensive uses.

York County accepting public comment on its hazard mitigation plan Updated Dec 28, 2020; The York County Planning Commission, as part of the required annual evaluation of the York County 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan, will be accepting comments and recommendations on the plan beginning Friday and continuing through Jan. 31, 2021. The plan is an awareness document that identifies potential hazards and actions to deal with those hazards, according to a press release. It is a multi-hazard (natural and human-made) and multi-municipal (information provided at the municipal level for all 72 municipalities) plan and is based on input from York County municipalities, adjacent counties, the public, and related organizations.
