President Judge Maria Musti Cook ordered Kevin Nagle, 46, of McSherrystown, to immediately begin completing the remainder of his sentence of one year minus one day to two years minus two days in York County Prison. He had been free on supervised bail pending the outcome of his appeal, which the Pennsylvania Supreme Court refused to hear in December.
The York County District Attorney’s Office, she noted, had asked for a sentence of three to six years in prison. Cook said she gave significant thought to the factors that she’s required to consider at sentencing and did not believe that she had jurisdiction to modify the punishment.

A former York County School of Technology teacher convicted of touching two students genitals has been ordered to finish his prison sentence.
At a hearing on Friday morning, Common Pleas President Judge Maria Musti Cook ordered that Kevin Nagle be remanded to York County Prison, according to court records.
His attorneys had asked Cook to parole Nagle from the remainder of his sentence, but she denied that request, court records state.
Nagle, 46, of McSherrystown, Adams County, was sentenced to a year minus two days to two years minus two days in York County Prison after being convicted at trial.
PA flags to fly at half-staff for Craley Fire Co. s chief engineer, who died in the line of duty

Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered that commonwealth flags on all state and public buildings and grounds in York County fly at half-staff to honor the memory of Craley firefighter Edward P. Bookmyer.
Bookmyer, 60, of Lower Windsor Township, died in the line of duty on Jan. 30, according to the governor s office, which said all York County residents are invited to lower their Pennsylvania flags to half-staff as well.
The state flag should be flown at half-staff until sunset Saturday, Feb. 6, which is the day of Bookmyers funeral, the governor s office said.

LEWISTOWN The Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology was one of nine schools to receive a grant from the American Welding Society Foundation to improve the training capacity of its welding program.
According to a news release from the AWS, the Academy was presented with a $25,000 grant, which it will use to support the needs of local industries.
“We initially applied for the grant to help get some of the critical testing equipment needed to become an accredited testing facility through AWS,” said Mike McMonigal, supervisor of adult education and post-secondary education at the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology. “We hope that utilizing the grant will get our students and the program the edge it needs to be a leading welding facility within central Pennsylvania.”
