Prison for ex-York Country Day School teacher who corrupted student

A former York Country Day School teacher has been sentenced to county prison for corrupting a former student with whom he later had sex.
Stephen George Henise, 26, of Windsor Township, was sentenced Monday in York County Court to three to 23 months in York County Prison and given credit for the 92 days he d already spent locked up, court records state.
He had been free on bail awaiting sentencing after entering his guilty plea, but a judge revoked his bail on Dec. 7 at the behest of prosecutors, who filed a bail-revocation motion three days earlier, records state.

A Conewago Township man was charged with animal cruelty after police said he tortured his mother s miniature dachshund.
Travis Mervin Mitzel, 29, of the 300 block of Butter Road, faces a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to an animal by torture and a misdemeanor cruelty to an animal charge.
Mitzel, 29, is free on a $20,000 bond. He was arrested and arraigned Feb. 28 before District Judge Keith L. Albright.
Northern York County Regional Police said Mitzel had threatened his mother in the past about hurting and killing this specific dog and made it clear that he does not like this dog because it barks and growls at him.

A minor crash escalated into what police are calling a road rage incident on Saturday evening in Jackson Township, with a man firing multiple shots at a fleeing pickup truck, according to a news release.
The alleged shooter, Alberto Gonzalez-Ramos, 50, of York, is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, propel missile Into occupied vehicles and recklessly endangering another person and one count each of simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Man pinned under vehicle after slipping on ice dies in York County

Authorities believe a man found pinned under his car left the vehicle in drive when he exited it, then slipped on ice before the vehicle rolled on top of his legs, pinning him under the tire.
It happened in Dover Township Friday. The man died around 1:25 p.m. from his injuries at WellSpan York Hospital.
The man’s name won’t be released until his family is notified, according to the York County Coroner’s Office. His cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma due to an accident.
