Doctor and two children are among 5 killed in South Carolina shooting, authorities say
Five people were killed including a prominent doctor, his wife and their two young grandchildren in a shooting at a home near the South Carolina city of Rock Hill on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
A sixth person also was injured in the shooting, and authorities eventually found a suspect in the suspect’s home nearby, York County sheriff’s officials said early Thursday without elaborating.
Investigators believe the suspect was the only assailant, and are trying to figure out why anyone would have gunned down Dr. Robert Lesslie and some members of his family, sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said.

Tragedy struck Rock Hill and York County, Wednesday afternoon in the form of a mass shooting on Marshall Road. 5 people are dead, including children, ages 5 and 9 years old. One person was injured and airlifted to the hospital with serious gunshot wounds. Their condition is not available at this time.
York County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Trent Faris, early Thursday morning, said they have identified the person they feel is responsible for the shooting. They found him in a nearby home where Faris said he lives. In earlier social media posts the suspect was a black male wearing a black hoodie and camo pants. They searched for the suspect for several hours before locating him. Detectives were serving a search warrant at the home early Thursday morning. Faris said they were ‘with the suspect,’ but would not clarify if he was dead or alive.
