Lone survivor of South Carolina mass shooting has died: coroner

Shook had been the only survivor of the six shooting victims.
Shook was 38. He died at Atrium Health Care in Charlotte after he was airlifted from Wednesday’s shooting scene, Gast said.
Shook was from Grover in Cleveland County, Gast said.
The suspect in the case was former NFL player Phillip Adams, York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said Thursday. Five people at the home of a prominent local doctor, Robert Lesslie, were found dead at the scene, and Shook was wounded.
Adams, a 32-year-old Rock Hill native, fired as many as 20 shots during the spree, Tolson said. He died by suicide in his family’s nearby home, according to the sheriff.

CNN reports a sixth person is dead as a result of Wednesday’s shooting spree, according to York County (S.C.) Coroner Sabrina Gast.
Robert Shook, an air conditioning technician, initially survived the attack that left a beloved doctor, his wife, their two grandchildren and another air conditioning technician dead on Wednesday, but he died late Saturday afternoon, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said in a news release sent to CNN. The family of former NFL player Phillip Adams has decided to have his brain tested for a degenerative disease that has affected a number of pro athletes and has been shown to cause violent mood swings and other cognitive disorders.
Adams killed his doctor, three of his family members and an air conditioning technician before fatally shooting himself on April 7. While routine forensic autopsies “do not identify chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE),” the York County, South Carolina, Coroner’s Office said it will work in tandem with Boston University researchers who have been at the forefront of the degenerative brain disease.

An update on last week’s mass shooting in Rock Hill.. According to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast, the sixth victim, Robert Shook died late Saturday afternoon. Shook, an air conditioning technician initially survived the attack that left a doctor, his wife, their two grandchildren and another air conditioning technician dead last Wednesday.
Shook was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Charlotte where he underwent multiple surgeries. York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said 32 year old Ex-NFL defensive back Phillip Adams shot the air conditioning technicians outside the home of Dr. Robert Lesslie before advancing inside to kill him, his wife Barbara and their two grandchildren ages 5 and 9. The other air conditioning tech who lost his life outside of the home was identified as James Lewis of Gastonia, North Carolina.
