Investigation: Rochester City Hall violated no policies in handling Daniel Prude info

Provided Photo / WXXI News The city’s Office of Public Integrity has concluded that neither Mayor Lovely Warren nor anyone in her administration violated departmental policies or ethics codes in their handling of information about Daniel Prude’s arrest and his death at the hands of Rochester police officers. The review dealt entirely with the actions of civilian employees under the supervision of the mayor, as well as the mayor herself. Stephen Gottlieb: Peace And Penalties

4:36 A recent email from Tom Huf struck me as a clear and succinct statement about the problem with American policy toward Iran. Tom, like my wife and myself, was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Iran, and follows developments in Iran closely. Here’s what he wrote: I’ve been thinking recently that the whole US premise – even among non-Trumpians – of trying to isolate and punish Iran and dump onto Iran the ills of the region[,] is the best way to make the situation worse. Have we not learned the lessons of the Treaty of Versailles? Isolation, blame mongering, and punitive financial payment regimes did not work out so well after punishing Germany in 1919. Pretending that containing and even diminishing Iran will yield good results is absurd. Unreality, unbalanced dealing, and ignoring 80 million people injects instability and can only end badly.

Valley News - Artist sues over Vermont Law School s plan to remove murals

Artist sues over Vermont Law School’s plan to remove murals A panel from a mural by Sam Kerson that had been displayed at Vermont Law School in Royalton, Vt. The school plans to paint over the mural, The Underground Railroad Vermont and the Fugitive Slave, painted in 1993, because the depictions of the African-Americans on the mural are offensive to many in our community and, upon reflection and consultation, we have determined that the mural is not consistent with our School’s commitment to fairness, inclusion, diversity, and social justice, according to a statement from VLS Dean Dean Thomas McHenry on July 6, 2020. The NYPD Substantiated Its First Complaint Of Biased Policing—But Not Against An Actual Officer

The NYPD Substantiated Its First Complaint Of Biased Policing But Not Against An Actual Officer arrow The new class of NYPD office at their graduation in 2015 Peter Foley/EPA/Shutterstock One year after a city watch dog called out the NYPD for inadequate investigations into biased policing, the department has substantiated its very first complaint it received from the public. But the substantiated complaint is not against a police officer. It’s against a school safety agent.  According to the NYPD, the safety agent stopped a Brooklyn high school student wearing “clothing associated with the Muslim faith” and made a comment to the student that ISIS should be notified. Police officials said it is in the process of seeking discipline against the safety agent for profiling on the basis of race and religion.
