City seeking developers to build 100 Flatbush apartments

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for development teams to transform a City-owned vacant Flatbush site, formerly Public School 90 (P.S. 90), into affordable housing and community development space.  Roughly 100 critically needed affordable homes will be part of the development, in addition to a community center with youth programming at the vacant 2286 Church Avenue site.  The 29,000 square foot development site formerly contained a historic 19th-century school building, which later became P.S. 90 and the private school Beth Rivka. The school was demolished in 2015 due to hazardous structural conditions.   “This Administration is deeply committed to putting the City’s dwindling supply of vacant land to use as affordable housing coupled with community resources,” said HPD Commissioner Louise Carroll.

Trader Joe s coming to Harlem | Real Estate Weekly

The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners have signed a 28,000 s/f lease with Trader Joe’s in Harlem. The popular grocery chain will join Target as the retail anchors of the new $242 million Urban League Empowerment Center mixed used development now under construction at 121 West 125th Street. The 17-story Urban League Empowerment Center will house the National Urban League’s headquarters and the state’s first civil rights museum as well as 170 units of supportive and affordable housing for low-income New Yorkers, 70,000 s/f of office space and nearly 90,000 s/f of retail. Target already signed a lease for a new 44,000 s/f store and the office space tenants include several locally based non-profits, including the United Negro College Fund, 100 Black Men, Inc. and Jazzmobile. De Blasio Announces Extension of Open Storefronts Program

And by introducing restaurants into the program, we’re giving local eateries more ways than ever to keep their communities vibrant,” Mayor de Blasio said. By Forum Staff Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday announced the Open Storefronts program, which permits storefront businesses to use a portion of their sidewalk to display merchandise, sell goods, complete transactions, and provide queuing areas, will be extended through Sept. 30, 2021. The mayor announced the program will also allow businesses to sell pre-packaged food on sidewalks, and allow restaurants to use sidewalks for take-out orders.

City officials began Friday to solicit proposals for an affordable housing development coming to Stapleton’s shorefront. Proposals to the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) for the 108,000-square-foot, city-owned site, which is part of the 35-acre decommissioned Navy base along Front Street, will need to include plans for 100% affordable housing, and be part of the Bay Street Corridor neighborhood plan.

City seeking developers for 2-acre Staten Island waterfront development

The city has issued an RFP seeking developers for a two-acre affordable housing project on Staten Island’s north shore. Stapleton Site A is a vacant lot south of Hannah Street that is part of the New Stapleton Waterfront District, a 35-acre decommissioned Navy Base (rendering pictured top via HPD). The New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is overseeing the City’s redevelopment of the New Stapleton Waterfront into a mixed-use neighborhood with housing, waterfront open space and retail and community facility uses.  It will also include significant infrastructure improvements such as road reconstruction, bicycle and walking paths, and better connections to public transit.
