ALBANY Parole reform advocates unveiled a new report Tuesday highlighting how New York is trailing far more conservative states when it comes to cost-saving measures and reducing recidivism.
The analysis from A More Just NYC details how at least a dozen deep red states have implemented successful parole reforms, such as incentivizing time off and limiting jail time, that have saved money and reduced incarceration.
New York, meanwhile, continues to lock up more people for parole rules violations than any other state, costing taxpayers over $680 million a year.
