During the throes of the pandemic, many parents, weary of monitoring their children s online classes, yearned for schools to reopen.
Then vaccines expanded, schools reopened in many cities, and teachers returned – but huge numbers of students didn t. Weeks passed; safety protocols became routine. President Joe Biden s administration urged in-person attendance. And still millions of students stayed remote, their parents concerned about the virus, not to mention bullying, racism, misbehavior, or child care.
As fall approaches, many schools are ending virtual programs and trying to return children to classrooms five days a week. New York City, the nation s largest school district, eliminated remote options for next year. New Jersey s governor announced schools must fully open in fall with no remote learning. Illinois public schools must do the same for almost all students, the state board of education voted last month.

Journalist Seth Barron said Friday on Fox News’ “Tucker Carson Tonight” that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has “neutered the police and handcuffed them,” making the city’s rising crime “baked in.”
WATCH:
“Well, it’s a grim story,” Barron began. “De Blasio and his progressive tendency have essentially hollowed out what was a prosperous and safe city. They did this by spreading an ideology of division, class hatred, racial hatred, racial resentment, and frankly, they neutered the police and handcuffed them.”
Barron also noted that de Blasio’s legacy as mayor includes a lack of fiscal responsibility, “trying to ruin the school system [and] political corruption.”
