Every U.S. state has a website for lost money, where residents can make claims to receive money the believe is owed to them.
If you re a New York resident looking to do the same, check out https://www.osc.state.ny.us/unclaimed-funds/.
New York residents will need to fill out their personal information in order to claim their money. According to the state of New York website, New York State’s Abandoned Property Law requires certain entities to transfer abandoned money or securities to the New York State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds. The Comptroller serves as the custodian of unclaimed funds until they’re claimed by the rightful owners.
