NY Senate Majority Leader: I Support Moving Forward on Impeachment of Cuomo

3 Aug 2021 On Tuesday’s “CNN Newsroom,” New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D) said she supports the New York State Assembly “moving forward on” impeaching New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). After Stewart-Cousins called on Cuomo to resign, Co-host Victor Blackwell asked, “[W]e know that he’s not going to resign. He has signaled that in the recorded statement that played earlier. So, now the question is of impeachment. Do you support moving forward on impeachment?” NEW YORK, NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 11: Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden (center), Dr. Jill Biden (left) and New York Gov. New York s Andrea Stewart-Cousins Calls on Cuomo to Resign

7 Mar 2021 New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has called for Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to resign amid multiple sexual harassment allegations recently waged against him. “Everyday there is another account that is drawing away from the business of government,” Stewart-Cousins said in a statement released Sunday. “We have allegations about sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, the loss of credibility surrounding the Covid-19 nursing home data and questions about the construction of a major infrastructure project.” “New York is still in the midst of this pandemic and is still facing the societal, health and economic impacts of it,” she added. “We need to govern without daily distraction. For the good of the state Gov. Cuomo must resign.”

Andrew Cuomo: No Way I Resign over Sexual Harassment Allegations

8 Mar 2021 Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said Monday there is “no way” he will resign in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment, despite calls for him to step down. His statement comes after he cited an independent investigation by Attorney General Letitia James’s office that Cuomo’s office has signed off on, the “[James] is very good, she’s very competent, and that will be due process and then we’ll have the facts. That’s why Senator [Chuck] Schumer said let the Attorney General do her investigation, Senator [Kirsten] Gillibrand said let the Attorney General do her investigation, Congressman [Hakeem] Jeffries said let the Attorney General do her investigation, the White House spokesperson said let the Attorney General do the investigation, because that’s democracy. So no, there is no way I resign,” Cuomo said in a press briefing Monday.
