Trespassing reported off new St Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail

Sunday, June 13, 2021 - 8:05 am CANTON - St. Lawrence County has received reports of individuals trespassing while using the newly re-established Multi-Use Trail. ATV/OHV operators are ignoring the signs where the trail intersects with the Pleasant Lake Road just west of the trooper shed and continuing towards the Dean Road. Once on this section, operators are trespassing on a number of trails they see along that road. Be advised that the trails outside of the designated signage in the area are on private land and only open to MOLPUS land club members. The New York State Department of Environment Conservation and St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up enforcement on the Multi-Use Trail System immediately.

The New York State Department of Environment Conservation, which is providing oversight for the National Fuel Gas-financed cleanup, said a major project phase is on track to be completed by around mid-March. The 1.82 acres of land is located along Franklin Street, near the corner with Canisteo Street, southwest of downtown Hornell. The property is listed as a Class 2 cleanup site in the State Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste locations, meaning it poses a “significant threat to public health,” according to the DEC.

Earlier this afternoon I saw a Facebook post from the New York State Department of Environment Conservation (NYS DEC) that was sharing a fun fact. That fact was that Blue Jays aren t really blue. This prompted me to google this bit of information and it turns out that Blue Jays are indeed not blue at all. They are a completely different color which you wouldn t notice or even be able to see until you look at their feathers from underneath.
