Wednesday update: Oswego County virus cases up 24 to 7,166

OSWEGO — Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang announced Wednesday, April 7, that 24 additional residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total cumulative number of positive cases since the county began monitoring for COVID-19 in March 2020 to 7,166. There are currently 203 active positive cases. Huang has noticed a recent increase of second-dose appointment cancellations. “Like all medicines, vaccines should follow the physician’s prescription to achieve their full effectiveness,” he said. “The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are designed, approved and prescribed to be received as a two-dose vaccine series. To fully protect yourself and your loved ones, please make sure that you receive both doses.”

Oswego County announces two new ways to make COVID-19 vaccine appointment

OSWEGO — The Oswego County Health Department strives to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible people in the most efficient way possible. The department will post a link after 10 a.m. every Thursday at health.oswegocounty.com that people can use to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. A vaccination hotline was also launched to help people make appointments by phone. The phone line will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdays at 315-349-3383. “We are happy that so many people in our community want to be vaccinated,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “We share in their enthusiasm for taking this next step and helping bring an end to this pandemic.”
