Monmouth County Library will present program about little known Founding Father
unique program from the institute’s national initiative on Revisiting the Founding Era.
Donna Mansfield, at the Eastern Branch of the county library system in Shrewsbury, wrote the grant awarded by the institute that teaches scholars and the general public about American history. The institute also maintains the Gilder Lehrman Collection and other archives to promote American history education, according to a press release from the county library.
The grant that has been secured by Mansfield will feature a presentation by historian and doctoral candidate Jennifer W. Reiss highlighting the significant contributions of little known Founding Father Gouverneur Morris on May 18.

President Biden will today issue an executive order forming the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States, comprised of a bipartisan group of experts on the Court and the Court reform debate. In addition to legal and other scholars, the Commissioners includes former federal judges and practitioners who have appeared before the Court, as well as advocates for the reform of democratic institutions and of the administration of justice. The expertise represented on the Commission includes constitutional law, history and political science.
The Commission’s purpose is to provide an analysis of the principal arguments in the contemporary public debate for and against Supreme Court reform, including an appraisal of the merits and legality of particular reform proposals. The topics it will examine include the genesis of the reform debate; the Court’s role in the Constitutional system; the length of service and turnover of justices on the Court; the
CFP Board Names New D&I Director
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) has named Dawn Harris as its director of diversity and inclusion (D&I) for the Center for Financial Planning.
In this newly created position, Harris will be responsible for advancing diversity and inclusion programs and growing the number of diverse CFP professionals within the financial planning profession.

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden signed an executive order Friday establishing a bipartisan commission to examine reforming the Supreme Court of the United States.
Its purpose is to provide an analysis on U.S. Supreme Court reform, including an appraisal of the merits and legality of particular reform proposals which include the size of the court and the lifetime appointment.
According to a press release issued by the White House, the commissioners include former federal judges and practitioners who have appeared before the Court, as well as advocates for the reform of democratic institutions and the administration of justice.
Trump appointed three justices to the high court. One was a seat that Republicans had blocked Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, from filling. Despite arguing in 2016 that the seat should be filled by winner of the year’s presidential election, Republicans rushed to fill the supreme court seat vacated by death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg just weeks before the 2020 election.
Biden’s executive order directs the commission to complete its report within 180 days of its first meeting. But it was not charged with making a recommendation under the White House order that created it.
