Itâs a done deal for the merging of Tilray, Inc. and Aphria Inc., two Canadian cannabis giants, said to create a weed-focused company with the largest global geographic footprint in the industry.
First announced in December, the business combination means the new company operating as Tilray had a market cap of about US$8.2 billion ($10.1 billion) based on the closing stock prices on Apr. 30.

Just before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 2nd, a call came into the Galesburg Police of a possible domestic disturbance taking place. The call came from the York Regional Police in Ontario, Canada, according to police reports. A resident in Ontario was playing Xbox Live with a resident of Galesburg and requested a well-being check after hearing a domestic disturbance taking place in the background. Due to prior police contacts, GPD knew the individual who owned the Xbox Live account. Police responded to the 600 block of East 3rd Street and were lead upstairs by the homeowner who stated the suspect and two females were in a bedroom. Police made contact with the two females who stated the male subject: 18-year old Bostyn Newcomer wasn’t present and there wasn’t a domestic incident – they were just yelling at the video game. A 20-year-old student at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia is facing a slew of charges related to human trafficking.
Justin Barrett of Brampton, Ont., was arrested Dec. 13 in his home province in connection with the procurement and exploitation of a 16-year-old girl in the sex trade.
In a statement Tuesday, Elizabeth Yeo, vice-president for students at St. FX, said Barrett has been suspended effectively immediately. She did not mention him by name. The statement goes on to say that the university will reconsider Barrett s status once the case has been dealt with by the courts.
