President Biden says Governor Andrew Cuomo should resign if an investigation confirms he has sexually harassed women.
Biden made the comment in an ABC News interview. He said a woman should be presumed to be telling the truth and should not be scapegoated and become victimized by her coming forward.
The president noted the allegations against Cuomo are being investigated. He said if the allegations ultimately are confirmed, it may very well be, there could be a criminal prosecution that is attached to it.
Although Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand have issued a statement saying the governor should resign, Cuomo has said he won t step down.
Attorneys for second accuser Charlotte Bennett were also concerned that the law firm was too closely aligned with Cuomo, in relation to the firm’s past affiliation with Glazer, a Cuomo political appointee. Glazer was at the law firm for 30 years before his retirement. Cuomo appointed him to the board of a state university and a board that helped pick the sites of casinos.
“This is an unacceptable conflict of interest,” said Bennett’s lawyer, Debra Katz. “While Ms. Bennett is committed to cooperating with all appropriate governmental inquiries, including the impeachment investigation, the involvement of Davis Polk gives her pause.”

It is no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has had large global implications, disproportionately affecting some communities due to a range of social, economic, and political factors. Female leaders like Prime minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand and Prime minister Erna Solberg of Norway are being praised for their immediate and effective response to the pandemic Yet the United States’ response is not being lauded for that same sense of urgency.
And if those claims are confirmed, Biden said, I think he ll probably end up being prosecuted, too. That s what s going on now. There could be a criminal prosecution that is attached to it. I just don t know, Biden said.
New York Attorney General Letitia James is overseeing a probe of the claims that is being conducted by a team of attorneys in private practice.
On Monday, investigators spoke for four hours to former Cuomo aide Charlotte Bennett, 25, who said the 63-year-old governor was looking for a sexual relationship last year when he asked about her love life, and whether she had been with an older man. Investigators are also examining claims by six other women.
