The number of Covid cases has risen slightly at York uni and schools THE number of coronavirus cases at York s schools and universities has risen slightly, according to City of York Council s latest Covid data tracker report. It says that eight children at five different York schools tested positive for the coronavirus in the week up to last Monday, up from six children in the previous week.. It said six individuals within the University of York community were currently self-isolating after testing positive, up from one person a week ago. No students were having to self-isolate at York St John University, it added.

Cllr Chris Cullwick will take over as Lord Mayor from Cllr Janet Looker. He has chosen to support three organisations - mental health charity York Mind, homelessness prevention body SASH and The Wilberforce Trust, which supports people with visual and sensory impairments. He will be sworn in at a socially-distanced ceremony at the York Assembly Rooms, joined by his wife Joy who will become Lady Mayoress. Mind the Gap has launched a new performing arts course for adults with learning disabilities and autism - the first of its kind in the UK. The course has been validated by York St John University and will give students a certificate in Higher Education in Performing Arts - equivalent to Level 4 or the first year of a university degree.
